Dance for Special Needs, 2026

September 25 - December 11, 2026

Dance for Special Needs is a series of movement arts sessions that adapts traditional dance techniques to make them accessible for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The series nurtures and expands upon these individuals’ existing capabilities, while providing a human connection through arts-based activities and cultivating joy through public performance.

This program is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who should sign up: Teens and Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. No prior formal dance training is required to participate. Those new to dance are especially encouraged to participate!

Days/Dates/Time: Fridays, September 25 to December 11, 2026, 5:30 - 7:00 PM
Note: there will be no classes during the weeks of Halloween and Thanksgiving,

Location: Manhattan Plaza Health Club Conference Room, 482 West 43rd St., (at 10th Ave), Ground Floor, Midtown West Manhattan

Cost: Free. Any donations to KMA are greatly appreciated. Online donations of general support may be made clicking this link.

Additional Info: The series will culminate with a public presentation at which participants will demonstrate the dance skills they’ve learned and the choreography they helped create. Family, friends, and KMA supporters will be invited. While participants are encouraged to attend all sessions, attending on a drop-in basis is allowed.
